New student library and common area for an independent day school for grades 9-12.

Reinforce a sense of collaboration and community. The space gets a tremendous amount of natural daylight during the day. SRD was tasked with creating a balanced space for both daytime and after hours school activity. High output recessed downlights with a narrow beam throw light down on the work surfaces below. A curving handrail with integrated lighting illuminates the walking path. The bookcases at the perimeter of the space are highlighted by an indirect-direct wall mounted light fixture that grazes the book spines.
